Privacy Policy
This policy explains what TalkMoxie (https://talkmoxie.com) collects, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: email address, display name, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), or your Google account basics if you sign in with Google.
- Trial and access: trial start and end times and access status.
- Game Plans: the situations you describe and the plans generated and edited.
- Live Coach: messages you enter and the coach's replies.
- Practice Mode: chosen role and style, the roleplay transcript, and feedback.
- The Last Word: topics, player names you enter, arguments, scores and verdicts.
- AI usage records: when AI requests were made, used to enforce daily limits.
- Abuse prevention: at sign-up, a Cloudflare Turnstile check, plus one-way hashed (not readable) IP address and email values to rate-limit repeat sign-ups.
Why we use it
To run your account and trial, generate and save your coaching, enforce fair-use limits, and protect the service from bots and abuse. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not listen in the background.
Service providers
- Stripe processes payments and subscriptions. Your card details are entered on Stripe's pages and go directly to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. We keep your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, plan, trial and billing dates, and a log of Stripe billing events, to manage your access.
- Anthropic receives the text needed to generate AI responses, sent from our servers. Anthropic's own data-retention terms apply; we do not claim it never retains data.
- OpenAI transcribes voice arguments in The Last Word. The microphone turns on only after you tap record, during your own turn. Your recording is sent from our servers to OpenAI to be turned into text; TalkMoxie does not store the audio — it is discarded as soon as the transcript comes back. When you stop recording (or reach 60 seconds), the transcript is stored as your argument exactly as transcribed, the same as a typed one, and stays sealed until the verdict. OpenAI's own data-retention terms apply to audio it receives.
- Cloudflare Turnstile runs the sign-up bot check.
- Google provides optional sign-in and serves our web fonts, which means your browser contacts Google when pages load.
- Our hosting and database provider stores the information above on our behalf.
How we protect it
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Database access rules restrict each account to its own records, and AI credentials stay on our servers. No system is perfectly secure.
Cookies and storage
We use only the browser storage needed to keep you signed in and to save unfinished forms. We do not use tracking cookies, so we do not show a cookie banner.
Deleting your data
In the app you can delete saved game plans (which also deletes their Live Coach conversations and Practice sessions), clear a Live Coach conversation, and delete individual practice sessions.
To delete your whole account, go to Account → Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. Your sign-in is blocked first, then your profile, game plans, Live Coach conversations, practice sessions and feedback, The Last Word games and arguments, trial and access records, and AI usage records are permanently deleted, and your sign-in account is removed. If anything fails, you'll see an error rather than a success message, and you can safely try again. You can also email contacttalkmoxie@gmail.com.
What's kept:
- Trial record: to give each person only one introductory free trial, we keep a protected code made from your email address (a keyed one-way transformation, with "+" aliases and Gmail dots ignored) and the date the trial was first claimed. We treat it as personal information even though your email can't be read back from it. It is not linked to your account or any saved content, is used only to check trial eligibility, and only our servers can access it. It is kept for 12 months from the original claim date — deleting your account or signing up again does not reset or extend that date — and is removed by an automatic daily cleanup, so it may remain up to about a day after the 12 months end. After it's removed, the same email can qualify for a new introductory trial.
- Payment records: deleting your account cancels any active subscription immediately so you are not charged again. Stripe keeps its own payment and invoice records as required for payments, tax and fraud prevention, under Stripe's privacy policy.
- Sign-up abuse records: one-way hashed IP address and email values, kept briefly for rate limiting and cleared in routine cleanup about a day after they were created.
- AI provider: information already sent to Anthropic or OpenAI is subject to that provider's own retention terms.
- Backups: our hosting provider takes a daily database backup and, according to its documentation, keeps backups for up to about 14 days. Deleting your account removes data from the live system immediately but does not edit existing backups; deleted data disappears as those backups expire.
